Sometimes it doesn’t take much to feel a little creative rebirth – a fresh coat of paint in the studio, the first snow outside the window and two dogs proudly showing off their new winter coats. That’s exactly how last week felt for me: calm, inspiring and full of little moments that warm the heart.
Winter crept up on us overnight. The landscape glitters in the morning light, plants wear fine frost crystals like little crowns, and the forest suddenly seems like a quiet, fairy-tale place. The dogs were immediately thrilled – with their new coats, they are well equipped for cold adventures and long walks in the woods.
While the snow falls quietly outside, my studio has undergone a little makeover inside. New order, new colours, new energy – and the view from the window is now simply magical. This mix of outer calm and inner creativity led me straight to my sketchbook.
And, of course, the Christmas season must not be neglected when it comes to creativity! The first holiday sketches have been created: Christmas tree baubles, twigs, bows, candy canes and little doodle-like motifs that may later find their way into illustrations or products. It’s incredibly fun to immerse myself in the world of Christmas step by step – first in pencil, then with colour, at my own pace.
Winter has definitely brought its magic with it. And I’m really looking forward to capturing more of it in my art
