I really wanted to know how the motif would look using this soft, slightly dreamy technique. Watercolours have this very special feel to them… everything becomes a little more delicate, a little more atmospheric and sometimes just completely surprising.
The first attempt was still quite gentle and restrained, almost like a pale little sketch that was still hesitant to show its colours. The tones were light, the shapes soft – somehow poetic, but not quite ‘me’ yet.
And then came the moment when I became bolder: stronger shadows, clear lines, bright flowers and a really radiant accent in the middle. Suddenly it was there – the witch’s hat, just as I had imagined it. A mix of magic, autumnal mood and a touch of playfulness. ✨🧙♀️
Now the finished watercolour hat is even framed and looks like it belongs straight out of an autumn fairy tale.
I just love how a motif grows through the different steps – from the sketch to vectors, coloured pencils and gouache… to this soft, vibrant watercolour look.
Let’s see where it takes me next.
Thank you for accompanying me on this little journey – it’s so much fun to show you every step along the way. 💛
